About Our Program
The Spartans are an AAU (Amateur Athletic Union), Seattle based boys basketball team, which participates in games and tournaments on a local, regional and national level. As an AAU team, we are a non profit organization, formed solely to provide our youth the opportunity to participate in organized basketball.
The main objective of our organization is to provide a year round community based program which focuses on defining and teaching the fundamentals of basketball. This includes mentoring and counseling not only on the game of Basketball, but also to include educating our youth on public interaction and acceptable social behavior. These are the same principals that define our organizations Motto,
“We Don’t Recruit Athletes… We Build Them!”
We are traveling teams, which participate in various tournaments and games throughout the United States. We pride ourselves on creating a sportsmanship atmosphere, which is both positive and fun. Each of our players must maintain a 2.5 GPA which is higher than the 2.0 required by their local school districts. Hard work and discipline is required by each and every one of our athletes. Our coaches and staff are all strictly volunteers who want to see our future leaders flourish.
Our SPARTANS Youth basketball program provides an ideal avenue to help youth stay off the streets and feel safe; receive social support from adults; get involved in the challenging and interesting sport of basketball; feel a sense of belonging to a team; have opportunities to lead and learn responsibility; and see family members become involved as volunteers in the community through our program.
